ICO: prices ease, and Arabica's share slips below 60%ICO
The International Coffee Organization's September report shows falling prices, rising exports and a record low share for Arabica.
The ICO composite indicator price, a benchmark that blends the main coffee types, averaged 262.18 US cents per pound in September 2026. That is 8.7 percent lower than in August, as Brazil's harvest and expectations of plentiful supply weighed on the market.
Trade is growing. Global green bean exports reached 10.94 million bags in August 2026, up 15.6 percent year on year. Exports in all forms, including roasted and soluble coffee, rose 14.6 percent to 12.55 million bags.
The most striking number: for the first 11 months of coffee year 2025/26, Arabica made up 59.6 percent of green bean exports. It is the first time on record that its share has fallen below 60 percent, which means Robusta's role keeps growing.
Bangladesh's own coffee-growing hills are best suited to Robusta, so Robusta's rising share of world trade is good news for future local growers.
১৮ US cents ছিল।
