Rwanda
After almost a decade of trial data, top varieties including a Gesha enter commercial trials.
The Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) is moving its best-performing coffee varieties, including a Gesha, into formal commercial trials and release. The decision follows nearly a decade of data from international variety trials.
The stakes are high: more than 350,000 Rwandan households depend on coffee for their income.
Variety trials come before scale. The same patient, data-led approach is what Bangladesh's young coffee regions in the Hill Tracts need.
